The Chang Lab at UCSF describes its speech work as the BRAVO clinical trial (Brain-Computer Interface Restoration of Arm and Voice). The lab’s page says BRAVO tests the feasibility of using electrocorticography (ECoG) signals to operate devices that assist movement and communication in adults severely affected by neurological disorders, and that it is an FDA-monitored trial.
