The neural dust work comes from the University of California, Berkeley. The 2016 Neuron paper, “Wireless Recording in the Peripheral Nervous System with Ultrasonic Neural Dust,” lists Seo, Neely, Shen and others as authors. Berkeley News described the result as a step toward “electroceuticals.”

Device entries

  • Neural dust, ultrasonic backscatter mote: 3 mm mote with a piezoelectric crystal, one transistor and recording electrodes. Rat sciatic nerve and muscle. Berkeley’s release reports a later shrink to a 1 mm cube.

Limits

No single lab or principal investigator is named here because the sources read did not tie the project to one. Preclinical.
