PUF-addressed ME implants: Hydra and rat tests

Separate Hydra and rat experiments
The JSSC paper uses the PUF-addressed ME platform for two different biological demonstrations. It does not report multisite cardiac pacing or spinal-cord rehabilitation in an animal or person.
Hydra synchronization
Two nearby Hydra vulgaris were stimulated with implants at varying heights powered by one coil. Stereotrodes attached to the devices delivered 3.5-V, 20-Hz, 1.2-ms biphasic trains. A transgenic GCaMP7b line visualized epithelial muscle activity, with greater-than-200% fluorescence increases and stimulus-aligned contractions.
This is synchronized muscle activation in two organisms, used as a model for coordinated stimulation. It is not biventricular pacing, a calcium-independent recording system or a clinical efficacy result. The two-Hydra illustration is not a complete study enrollment count.
Acute rat nerve stimulation
A separate rat experiment used isoflurane anesthesia and surgical exposure of sciatic nerve. The implant was coated with Parylene C; the external transmitter was aligned at approximately 2 cm. Needle EMG electrodes in the foot and a shoulder reference recorded muscle activity.
With 1.2-ms, 3-Hz biphasic stimulation, the 3-V output produced stronger leg movement and plantar-muscle EMG than the 1-V output. The demonstrated motor recruitment is not recovery from injury, decoded intent or stable chronic operation.
The accessible in-vivo section describes this rat preparation but does not state a rat cohort size or repeated-trial denominator. Neither is inferred from a plotted trace or singular wording.
Limits
Animal stimulation, two-device bench addressing and porcine-tissue power tests are separate evidence. The tissue test includes air gaps at longer separations; the 60-mm modeled power range is not a rat implantation depth. No human study, chronic survival, therapeutic pacing outcome or long-term implant reliability is reported here.
